TCNavigator Features
Timber Cruise Navigator or GPS Navigator is a Windows CE GPS navigation, and land area calculation tool designed
specifically for use with add-on (piggy-back) GPS pods such as those that can be purchased for Juniper Systems Allegro, or
SYMBOLS Pocket PCs. It will however work with an external GPS unit via the serial data port. The first help screen
in TCNavigator provides instructions for building, or purchasing an adapter cable for attaching an external GPS unit to
your PDA.
TCNavigator is simple to operate because it uses menu commands instead of icon commands, and does not include the extra
complex mapping components found in TDS's SoloCE, or ESRI's ArcPad GPS mapping software. TCNavigator is designed for those
who need an easy to use tool for navigating to a coordinate, and calculating the area of a close traverse.
TCNavigator will automatically send to TCruise, the plot identifier, stratum name, and latitude/longitude of a plot/point
way point.
The major features of TCNavigator are
True and magnetic azimuth, and bearing to destination
Latitude, and longitude averaging
Unlimited way points, or survey stations
UTM, TM, and Alber's map projections
Magnetic declination
VDOP, HDOP, and PDOP clipping
Land area calculation with Universal Transvers Meractor (UTM), Transverse Mercator (TM),
Alber's equal area, State Plain, Poly Conic, and, Lambert Conformal Conic map projections
Land area as a sperical polygon for extremly large areas
